I have tried many different types of crafts over the years, but one thing I hadn’t tried was embroidery. I suppose I’ve done a few things here and there, stitching on plushies I’ve crocheted and whatnot, but I’ve not taken time to actually learn various stitches and give it a real attempt. I’m not sure what brought it on. It could be the embroidery projects that I’ve seen here and there on social media, but I just wanted to try something new, so embroidery it is!

I’ve actually tired a bit here lately with knit and crochet, and I’ve not had much motivation to draw or paint either, so hopefully this new medium will spark something in those other areas also.

Honestly, I’m not quite sure what I’m doing. I just pulled out the same stitch book that taught me to knit and crochet and I looked up the section on embroidery and started making stitches. I’d say it’s not too bad for a first go of it and for not actually having a pattern on the fabric. I just sat down and started stitching. I really kinda like French Knots. They’re fun. I did also buy a pattern to try before I start downloading patterns online or creating my own. I’m not sure what I’ll do with embroidery, but it’s a little relaxing. I’m sure it would be more relaxing if I were following an outline instead of just making it up as I go.

Have you ever tried hand embroidery? What did you make with it?
