I have never been one to decorate much for Valentine’s Day, but this year my daughter has insisted. We started decorating for Valentine’s Day on New Year’s Day. Since I didn’t have any decorations, we made our own.

Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be sharing some of them with you, in case you would like to make them too. Today, I’m sharing a super easy wreath decoration you can make.

Red yarn is very difficult to photograph.
I didn’t take photos of all the steps, but I think you’ll be able to figure it out. It’s pretty easy.
So the first thing I did was draw a heart on a piece of cardboard. This needs to be the size you want the heart. Then draw the inside heart. I cut the outside line first with a utility knife, then I cut out the inside.
Once you get it cut out, grab some yarn. I wrapped the yarn by cutting into lengths about 4 or 5 foot long. It made it easier to wrap, rather than having to deal with a whole skein or ball. So for the first bit, wrap the end around your heart and tie a knot. Then just wrap the yarn til you get near the end of that length and tie on another stretch of yarn. Keep wrapping and covering over your ends until you’ve wrapped all the way around the heart.
Next I took red, pink, and white and made 4 pom poms with my Clover Pom Pom Maker. I think I used the 1 3/8″ size, but the heart ones might be cute too.
I left the yarn I used to secure the poms a little long after trimming the rest, because I then used it to tie the poms to the heart.
Then I tied a length of yarn around the top to hang it and voila!
The back of the wreath.
I took the photos of the wreath on the outside because the light was a bit better. However, I have it hanging on the inside. I’m not sure how this would hold up in the weather, unless you have a covered porch or something.
